Company Updates 

MicroStrategy, a leading business intelligence and software company, has continued its commitment to Bitcoin by purchasing an additional 122 BTC in April at a total cost of $7.8 million. They now hold over 214,000 bitcoins worth over $15.5 billion.

The founders of Samourai Wallet, a cryptocurrency mixing tool, have been charged with money laundering, alleging that the software was used to facilitate over $100 million in illegal transactions. They collected millions in fees for their services, and the website and mobile app have been seized by the U.S. government.

The Lightning Network bitcoin wallet, Phoenix, announced that it will cease services for U.S. residents on May 3, 2024, due to concerns about government regulations and crackdowns on financial privacy and non-custodial solutions.

Custodia Bank, a Wyoming-based digital asset bank, is in a legal dispute with the Federal Reserve over its application for a master account. The outcome of this case will have significant implications for the adoption of digital assets in the traditional banking system.

Product Updates

Block, the company behind Square and Cash App, has introduced a new program for merchants that allows them to convert a percentage of their daily sales to bitcoin. This feature will be available to all eligible merchants in the coming months.

Voltage, a Bitcoin platform, has integrated Mutinynet, a custom signet, to provide a more efficient and realistic testing environment for Bitcoin developers. This integration aims to simplify the testing process, reduce block times for faster confirmation, and enable long-term testing for more reliable applications.

Block has announced its development of a three-nanometer bitcoin mining chip and plans to release a full mining system. They are seeking input from the mining community to improve their product.

Strike, a bitcoin-only money app, has launched in Europe, offering users the ability to buy, sell, send, and withdraw bitcoin with ease, along with global payments and lightning wallet features.
