Bitcoin Industry Updates From October 19th, 2023 - November 1st, 2023

Brought to you by Bitcoin Talent Co.

“I’m 70 years old. I own gold. I was surprised that Bitcoin got going, but you know, it’s clear that the young people look at it as a store of value because it’s a lot easier to do stuff with. I don’t own any Bitcoin, to be frank, but I should.” - Stanley Drunkenmiller, Billionaire Hedge Fund Investor

News & Updates

Covering October 19th, 2023 - November 1st, 2023

Company Updates

Onramp has launched a new platform for storing and managing bitcoin, combining elements of self-custody and centralized custody to create a more secure solution. Their partner companies including BitGo, Coincover and Kingdom Trust provide expertise in digital asset infrastructure and blockchain protection. This solution is aimed at institutions and individuals looking for a trusted bitcoin custodian.

MicroStrategy bought more Bitcoin, now holding 158,400 BTC worth $5.4 billion. The company recently purchased 155 BTC for $5.3 million.

Greenlight is now available for commercial use worldwide and makes using Lightning easy and secure. It splits the Lightning node into separate components and operates key-based operations on the user's device while the rest is managed by Blockstream. Businesses can integrate Greenlight to save time and costs and have the flexibility to manage their node through their own infrastructure or a partner LSP. It also offers a free plan for small users and optional custom pricing plans for higher volumes.

Strike partnered with Bitrefill, allowing users to use their bitcoin to purchase everyday items and services via the Lightning Network. This includes the ability to buy gift cards, recharge mobile phones, and make online payments. The integration showcases the benefits of the Lightning Network, known for its speed and low fees.

Product Updates

Cathedra Bitcoin has launched a firmware product called CathedraOS for bitcoin mining machines. The product can be downloaded for free and the company will receive a share of the hash rate produced as a developer fee. They believe this will help increase their performance and expand their hash rate at minimal cost.

Samourai Wallet has released version 5.0.0 of its Sentinel App allowing UTXO management on mobile phones without exposing private hot keys. New features include Collections to manage public keys and the ability to generate partially-signed transactions. Users can also customize settings and manage UTXOs with more features planning to be added.

Relai, a popular European Bitcoin-only exchange, will soon offer a self-custodial Lightning experience for its users through an integration with Breez's SDK and Greenlight, allowing for direct purchases and a seamless user experience. The partnership guarantees user privacy and reinforces Relai's position in the Bitcoin revolution.
