Company Updates 

MicroStrategy Inc. announced their financial results for the second quarter of 2023, including total revenues of $120.4 million, a 1% decrease year-over-year, flat at constant currency. They also acquired 12,800 bitcoins since Q1 for $361.4 million and reported a net income of $22.2 million. The company used cash from operations to continue to increase bitcoins on their balance sheet.

Tether, the company behind the USDT stablecoin, purchased 1,529 bitcoin in the second quarter of 2023 for $45.4 million. This purchase followed Tether's announcement in May to allocate up to 15% of quarterly profits to bitcoin. The move is challenging popular bitcoin bull Michael Saylor, executive chairman of MicroStrategy, who has acquired 467 BTC for the company's treasury.

Binance has been granted two licenses to offer bitcoin and digital assets services in El Salvador. Under the country’s new digital asset regulation, Binance becomes the first to receive a full operating license.

Barefoot Mining and Bitcoin Opportunity Fund have partnered to create a new Bitcoin mining company called West Bay Mining. The company is based in North Sioux City, SD and has been in operation since early June. This is the first investment made by the Bitcoin Opportunity Fund formed earlier this year.

Bitrefill has partnered with eSIM Go to provide travelers with pre-purchased e-sims that give them local data access in over 140 countries. Bitcoin enthusiasts and digital nomads can now get seamless internet connectivity with the Bitrefill eSIM service, which can be bought using bitcoin or other cryptocurrencies.

Product Updates

Bitcoin Magazine has launched a white-glove service called Rare B.TC to enable users to buy and sell rare sats and inscriptions from Bitcoin Ordinal Theory (NFTs) created earlier this year. Examples of rare sats are uncommon sats, rare sats, 2009 uncommon sats, Hal Finney sats, and Block 9 sats.

Sazmining, a Bitcoin mining provider, is launching a new facility in Paraguay to take advantage of the country's low electricity prices. The company aims to turn Paraguay's previous losses into a profitable venture, and will provide customers with on-site maintenance and security. The facility is part of a larger vision to invest in electrical infrastructure that will benefit Paraguay in the long term.

Mash has released a beta version of their Lightning Bitcoin Wallet, a progressive web-app that can be downloaded directly from a mobile browser. It allows users to create accounts, send and receive payments, customize their profiles, and is focused on enabling content creators to monetize their work. It is designed to bypass any potential app store censorship.
